Well it has been a while since I last posted! Christmas has come and gone and I got some cool presents like a Sony (Yes I know, Yuck) PSP and a cool build it yourself Robot, which follows lines. I spent new years at Perky's with her parents which was cool and now I've started my new job. And now my head hurts! The job doesn't use many of my existing skills, they're training me up using their software using languages I tend not to use, and all of this learning is hard. It is so much information to take in, but hopefully I'll have it mastered soon, or I'm going to be up a creek without a paddle! The staff there are really nice and it is quite a laid back attitude in the office, no stressing over deadlines so far, it has been pretty quiet, perfect for me learning stuff. I've got my own desk attached to the helpdesk area with my own PC - although it is a bit slow, and I'm slowly picking up access rights into the system, things like the door keys and Terminal Server access. Yesterday was a bit of a panic though, they've offered to take me over the Amsterdam for a business trip in 3 weeks time. The problem is - I don't have a current passport! So it was a mad rush yesterday to get down to the passport office to fill out the forms and send it all off, nightmare - but it was nice to be a job where you had the freedom to do that, not having managers breathing down your throat if you take an extra 2 mins for lunch (we get an hour for lunch I think but no-one actually has lunch, you just work at your desk!). I really must learn to update this blog more often again, as I keep forgetting what new things have been happening!

Why is it that my life always goes up and down like a yo-yo, why can't it ever go up and stay up?
I've been told I should really make another blog - so here it is. But I'm not really in the mood to be putting down all about my life and how I feel right now, so instead I'll just list the main facts (as I remember them, definitely no in chorological order).
1. I now have a job. It's working for a company called "Adlib Software" and basically they make Archive and Search software for Museums and Libraries. I had two interviews with them before I got the job, one was a first assessment, and the second was to review my technical skills. I'll be starting work in the company on the 3rd of Jan as a Software Support tech, and a developer so it should be varied and interesting. The people there seem nice so now all I have to do is brush up on my XSLT and C# knowledge and i'll be good to go!
2. I've now stayed in a posh hotel. Perky took me down to the Hilton hotel for a weekend, and what an interesting weekend it turned out to be. Perky's car broke down on the way up here, so we had to use mine, he cam belt had gone and wrecked her engine, the cost of the repair was almost as much as the car itself, bless her. Still it was a good weekend even with that shadow over our shoulders, and it did mean I got to see her for a bit longer as she had to stay to try to get the car booked in down here.
3. The Jennyral's birthday has come and gone. At the time I didn't have a job so I couldn't get her an amazing present. I hope the Christmas present will make up for it.
4. The editors for PlanetAMD64 have been chosen and they're doing a great job. Head over to the site to meet them.
5. Shuttle came through for me with another Shuttle which seems to work ok. Just waiting for Alphacool to come through again now before I can put the whole thing back together again.
6. Harry Potter was a good film and I would suggest you go see it if you have liked the others. Its much darker than the other films though and the kids (actors) are looking less like who they are supposed to be with every film. God knows how they're going to pull off the next two films.
Well there is probably a lot more to tell but things aren't going well for me right now (I know I complain a lot, but long story) so I won't go into any specifics. Just - Merry Christmas everyone, I hope you have a good one.

Job, job, job, where are you? I'm still job hunting and it's getting silly now. Quite a lot has happened since I last posted in here. Firstly Perky came up for the weekend in her new car which is quite nice. Jen has changed jobs to a different store making her closer to me (more stuff at lunchtimes!). Both Shuttles have gone back for repair, hopefully I'll be getting a new one soon and I can start the project again. I've just been through all of the possible editors for PlanetAMD64, hopefully one will come up trumps soon with the other staff and that?s the last time I have to edit a review again!
Christine's friend (Who's called Tori by the way) and I have been chatting occasionally since she text me last. She seems nice enough, although from watching her and Christine you have to wonder about the sanity between them. UPS (The delivery people) messed me around today, apparently I can't set up an account here for transfers and then charge it to a UPS USA account, so I'm going to have to find some other way of getting packages sent around the UK - it's getting silly now, I've got a review that badly needs doing, I might have to do it myself.
While I remember - a little birdie tells me that another person has been reading my blog. I do appreciate it when people take an interesting in what I'm up to - so Sam, thanks for reading!
Apart from that, not a lot has changed. I got my graduation pics bad today and I look terrible in them, I was trying to smile without showing my teeth (I don't like them) and instead pulled off a grimace instead. I'm not surprised - after 3 hours sweating to death in my robes first thing in the morning I was tired and hot.
I'm going to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Wednesday and I'm actually looking forward to it. I prefer the films to the books, more action in a shorter time and the other films have been quite good. I tried the game yesterday too, and it is much harder than the other games, the camera angle is terrible and there are no graphics options but I caught myself dying a few times, I need to get some practice!

Well looks like I'll have to put up with the annoying coloured Windows for some time more. The water-cooling arrived and I assembled it all. Problem was - a few small leaks and suddenly nothing works anymore. I dried it off but it was still flaky. I contacted Shuttle and they sent me a second one out - which was dead from the second I got it. Not good news, I panicked. After some changing of components, it was working again - so I fitted the water-cooling. Dead again, and by this point I was getting panicky. Anyways, to cut a long story short, Shuttle sent me a defective box which has to go back again, one of the RAM slots didn't work. I did get the machine running with only one stick of RAM in though - but it is waaaaay too hot to use, it'll only last for 10 mins or so before overheating. I'm hoping that the problem is the fan, its barely pushing any air through, so I'll need to replace it with a more powerful model. Oh and the pump died too - fantastic. Not much else has happened - Perky is coming up this weekend in her new car which'll be cool, I'm still without a job, and Christmas is coming up soon. A strange thing happened the other day though, I asked Christine for her housemate's mobile number to chat to her, and Chris said she (the housemate) didn't want me to have it. Fair enough. Then two days later I get a text from the housemate which turned into a convo that lasted all day - then I've heard nothing back from her since. Weird.

Still no job, still no money, still no water-cooling kit, still no motorbike, life still sucks. The graduation went ok ? although it was one of the biggest wastes of money I?ve seen in a long time. Hire Robes (Expensive) and sit in them for 3 hours, pausing slightly in the middle to do a sprint on the stage past some people while they read your name out. Then you get your photograph done (also VERY expensive) which involves a 45 second process where you stand on the mark for 3 photos. Then give the robes back and you?re done ? loads of money, boring, hot, sticky and annoying as hell. Of course the parents loved it. Perky and Jen came with me to the grad and had to suffer too so it wasn?t just all me. I?ve got some great pics too, although I?m not putting them up on here. Thank you both for coming with me, it was appreciated!

Tech-wise, the water-cooling still isn?t here. AlphaCool dispatched it at least but not until mid week so I have to wait until midweek next week to get it, fantastic ? it better all work this time. Arctic Silver delivered me some paste in the post today bless them, which I?ve used to get the Shuttle up and running again. Not much point of it but I wanted to try the paste out (they sent me some OEM stuff) and it seems to work well.

So tonight I?m off out again (with no money) to meet up with Steve and Adam. It?s not too bad as they don?t have any money either so it?s only a short stint in the pub but at least it?s something to do, I?m getting mind numbingly bored here in the evenings.

Oh and while I remember ? a big ARRRRRG goes out to the makers of Virtual ISO, a disk imaging program. I used it to mount some images but all it did was screw up the images and completely mess up my settings and corrupt the registry I suspect. Now all of my colours are messed up and I can?t get them back at all ? a reinstall of the OS is needed. Stuff that, I?ll just put up with it for a few days until I can get the Shuttle working properly, but it is really getting on my nerves!
