I was planning on getting up and going for a short run this morning, then doing some work on the site. Instead a morning run turned into an afternoon one and it wasn't so much of a short one, but a 4 mile trek to a friends house! Ooops! Anyways I'm back and looking into Wireless networks again as thats what I've been using all this weekend and I love it. I think I need a new laptop though as its getting on a bit (Thinkpad 240) and I'm looking into the Thinkpad X40, after seeing a Toshiba Portege R200 and loving it, its so small! Personally I think laptops should be small and light, I hate heavy ones that burn you legs and weigh a ton. I don't need a huge 17" screen, super powerful graphics (although some would do) or a processor that can out perform my desktop PC. Thus I have to give credit to Intel for Centrino, the advertising was good and they gave people like me what I wanted, a thin portable laptop with good battery life and wireless capabilities. Now if they could just remove the HUGE price tag they make companies pay to use the Centrino name, and users like me might be able to afford the end laptop. ---------- 27/03/05 @ 00:02 (GMT) What is it with some people? You do your best to try to be friends with them, texting them and saying really nice things to them that you wouldn't normally say to a person, but you're trying to be extra nice so that they'll get along better with you. Then they call you a "jekyll and hyde" character because you mistake what they say is 'joking' for them being serious (I thought she said seriously that I was a mean person) and then they stop talking to you after they go to bed. (nothing the next day or after) 3-4 days later you text them again (they haven't text you) to say 'congratulations' on something they've just got, and you get short replies and shrug offs. Also I'm friends with this girl's sister, so we agreed (with the person I'm trying to be friends with) that we won't tell everything that we talk about with the sister, or what kind of two way friendship is that? And what does this person do? Show every message I send her the second time to the sister. I mean, I'm not being unfair here by saying that's a little two faced, am I? She wants to be friends, great. She doesn't...fine that's up to her, but tell me either way and don't mess me around when I'm trying my hardest to be nice. ---------- 25/3/2005 @ 13:15 (GMT) Well another bright sunny day outside, and I for one am glad. This training for the Police is killing my geeky body as it is, let along me having to do it in the rain or soggy mud. The only problem is that because its nice and hot, I get all hot on my run which I dislike, and there are loads of people around to see me running past and get in my way. Well I suppose I can't have it all ways. I'm going home this weekend so I might not be able to update the blog as all of the site management tools are here, but I'll have a go using the old files as a template! My site of the day (well yesterday technically) is one entitled How to Hypnotize A Man which I thought was quite funny. I've added the Site Map page so that search engine spiders will be able to crawl the site easier, I'm not supprised they can't find pages at the moment, with it being dynamic and all. I woke up this morning (after about 5-6 hours sleep again..GRRR) thinking "I might actually be a degree student" ... which is a very weird feeling when you've been bounced around army schools and your ex-girlfriend was supprised you got into University at all! Time for some gaming today I think! ---------- 24/3/2005 @ 1:21 (GMT) I've made some slight mods to the site. For those interested, my extensive code (yeah right!) used for the pics section has been removed as it was causing the pictures to display strangely when the window was resized. I was using a "do five pics then insert page break" algorithum, but it turns out browsers just re-jiggle the contents to match the page width anyway, so when resized, I'd have pics going 4-2-4-2 instead of 6-6-6-6 like they should be. Its been removed for now and the pics should display properly on all screen sizes!.
