22/4/2005 @ 0:21 (GMT) Well its been a few days since I posted my last blog, but not much has been really happening. I have updated the site slightly, the Miscellaneous section has now two sub-sections, All About Me which is an updated version of the same section of my old site, and basically contains some information about who I am and my past. The other sub-section is a Soaps section which contains loads of information about British soap operas from around the internet. It is updated, maintained and sorted by Clare and has nothing what so ever to do with me, I don"t even like the things! On the technology front I have just watched the live shoutcast video stream from AMD about their dual-core processors. I was expecting it to be quite good but it turned out to be useless. The speakers were either non-techs who were going on about how much money they earn from this new technology, or were blowing AMD"s trumpet for designing this technology. There was not a technical document in sight. If it hadn"t been for the PlanetAMD64 lot sitting in the chatroom with me laughing at the speakers I probably would have gone mad listening to it. As always if you see a link that looks interesting on the google ads, please do click it, it brings interest to the sponsors web site and pays me at the same time, everyone wins! ---------- 18/4/2005 @ 00:56 (GMT) While I remember, happy birthday Christine, it"s her birthday today so I hope you have a good day hun! Over the last few days I"ve got back into Need for Speed Underground 2, which you should be able see on the left of this text. Its an excellent game, although the specs needed to play it properly are quite high, my 9600XT with 256MB of RAM only just manages it. The second version of the game is a bit like the first, you still drive and race other modded cars, but in a GTA style twist you can now drive around a map, unlocking areas with the races that you do. It breaks the game up a bit and is better than the first version. I"m adding to the site again, Clare"s soaps page is nearly done, so anyone coming here can read all about the British and other soaps, and what"s coming up in them, [sarcasm] lucky us!! [/sarcasm] Oh and for the soap site I"ve been playing with CSS some more, so that?s why you have got a pic of Need for Speed Underground 2 next to this blog! The site of the day is one my brother showed to me a few days ago. It claims to be the worlds smallest website. It contains a flash animation and some games, all in the space of about 10x10 pixels! Have a look for a laugh, its called Guimp.com ---------- 15/4/2005 @ 03:13 (GMT) Ever get those days when nothing in particular has gone wrong, but you still feel like the world is collapsing around you? I get them all of the time and its called bipolar (manic) depression, and it sucks. Luckily over the years I've learnt to read the signs of when I'm feeling down and have developed ways to 'steady' myself until the feeling wears off, for me its usually a matter of hours, I feel sorry for the poor souls that have to battle the feeling for days or weeks at a time. Thankfully I've got a few good friends who would help me through it if they knew, but I can't tell them when I'm down (there is something inside of me that prevents it) and they just don't understand the difference between being down, and suffering from this so most of the time they can't help. Oh well, I've managed this far, I'll keep going. Right, time for bed now, the stupid laptop battery is about to die, I so need a new laptop, bleeding stupid people hitting the car, I'll have to pay for that first..GRRRR. ---------- 13/4/2005 @ 22:50 (GMT) Well I'm back from a long weekend at Center Parcs in Longleat, which for those that don't know is a holiday park with a twist, its completely nature orientated, your villas are surrounded by woodlands, there are many wild animals roaming around, but at the same time its a complete holiday area, with all of the facilities you would expect from a holiday camp. I've been there once before with my parents and it was great, this time my friend Jen took me there for the weekend, all expenses paid (just about as we had limited money, THANK YOU Jen!) which was great. Its not one of those loud drinking nightclub places, its quiet and peaceful which is what I like (although my housemates are now calling me an old man). As well as the holiday she gave me an upgrade to my Porsche collection (getting closer to the real car!), a RC car which goes fairly fast when its in turbo mode, but its turning circle is shocking, and the steering is digital so its very twitchy at high speed! Apart from that its a great car, and the rear spoiler goes up when its in turbo mode! I would have written about all of this days ago if it hadn't been for the complete b*$%£$%£d who reversed into my car when I got back here (sometime overnight) and left me with a huge dent in the bonnet, which no longer shuts properly. Of course there were no witnesses and so I got f**&ked again in something that wasn't in any way my fault. I think I know who hit the car though, so I've given my details to the police and I hope some justice gets done this time. In the mean time, I have to drive around in a busted car which I didn't like much in the first place (no idea why, it's a nice car). Anyway, I'm back and training again (Taebo or running) as the weekend eating nothing but junk food (ok well most of it was junk food) didn't do much for my fitness! Please do click any google ads that look interesting, they pay me and the advertisers get the attention they want, and maybe I'll get enough to fix the car, *sigh*. ---------- 5/4/2005 @ 20:13 (GMT) Back on the PC at last! For those that check the site every few days, there has been a major change today in the way the blogs are displayed. Blogs used to be displayed all on one page, in reverse chronological order, however I realised a little while ago that after a few months blogging, this page was going to get very large! So I've re-coded the java class responsible for displaying the blogs to display only a certain number of blogs per page, and put the rest in hyperlinks so users can access the old blogs. Currently the site is hard coded to only display five blogs per page, but I've added the code in there to allow any number of blogs to be displayed per page, and it just needs a front end added so that the user can select how many they wish to see per time. The link of the day today is one of my bookmarks, I thought I'd share some of the decent sites I use with everyone else, and give them the recognition they deserve! The site is called Cardboard Fish's SMS and it?s a free SMS service to send messages all over the world. Its completely free and as long as you can put up with some of their rules and problems on the site (SMS's only get through 90% of the time, they have a small limit on how many chars per SMS, you can only send SMS's for a small time frame, then have to wait 10 mins or so before sending more, no swearing, etc) then its excellent if you want to send SMS's abroad or to loads of your mates and save some of your texts. As always, please do click on some google sponsors if you think they might be interesting etc, I could do with the extra money! Oh, and while I remember I've changed the pictures page code again so it works in Internet Explorer. So apologies to those who use small screens, or a decent browser like firefox, I can't perfect it for all! ----------
