I've never been a big fan of hot weather - it makes me hot and sticky, and that makes me irritable. The PC has overheated a few times today (case alarms went off), but overall it's coping well. On the reviews front - I've got quite a build up now, a motherboard from Optronix, a set of case lights and fans from Speeze, and now CoolerGiant are going to send me one of their entry-level server cases. However that's not the big news - and that is *drum roll please* that Crucial are sending me a PCI-Express ATI Radeon X850XT graphics card to review! Finally something I can use in my new system - and it?s a good thing as well, it'll quite happily play CounterStrike : Source in full resolution with FSAA (for the geeks) with everything turned up, yay! I'll review it as soon as I can - so keep your eyes out for it! ---------- 19/6/2005 @ 13:45 (GMT) Well it's been a while since I wrote in here! Firstly - my review of the Enermax EG465AX-VE power supply is complete. You can read all about it by clicking on this link. My copy of GTA San Andreas has arrived, yay! Unfortunately so have a motherboard from Optronix and a set of case fans and light from Speeze, so I'm going to have to do those first before I start playing games. Hopefully I'll be able to use those parts in a spare machine to build a test server, so I won't have to keep ripping my PC to bits every time I need to review something. Not much has been happening at home - Pinky (my housemate) moved out on Monday which was kind of sad as I've lived with her for two years now - but Matt and Perky are still here. Hay fever is killing me at the moment, I have to wash my eyes about three times a day and I'm permanently bunged up - which isn't fun. To top it off the temperature is a nightmare (I'm not a big fan of the heat) so exercising isn't much fun. Oh well - I get to move back home soon anyways, won't that be fun? ---------- 10/6/2005 @ 16:14 (GMT)  Don't you just love it when Google is your friend? The other day I went searching around Google randomly (as you do) and decided to see what ranking my site is for certain keywords (again, as you do). The usual search words targeted the site as I thought they would - but then I tried some searches that normal people would do. And blow me down if my site didn't come up third on the search! You can see a picture of it on the left. Ironically, PlanetAMD64 who I did the review for - came up on the fifth page! Changing the search slightly though completely messes up my standing, adding the word "OCZ" at the front of the search knocks me off the first six pages at least, oh well! Not much is going on in my life - I've got to go to a friend's wife?s birthday on Saturday which should be interesting, and tonight I'm going out to Pizza hut for a final meal with a few of my housemates. I can't believe two years has gone by so fast! On the technology front - AlphaCool have had some problems with their suppliers, so its going to be a little while longer until I can get the water-cooling kit for review. Antec have also said their True Control II I'm meant to be reviewing won't be out for another month - so I'm going to have to wait a bit longer to get that. The other companies I've contacted aren't responding either - so no reviews for the moment. I do have something to look forward to though - GTA San Andreas is out - and Jen's bringing it up when it gets to her - only a week to go at most - yay!---------- 6/6/2005 @ 15:17 (GMT) My review of the Antec Aria and the Antec Minuet II HTPC cases is complete. You can find it by going through the reviews page - or directly by going to this link ---------- 5/6/2005 @ 3:34 (GMT) Well the Antec Aria vs Minuet II review is complete and is just undergoing a final look over at PlanetAMD64 before I post it. Its been a fairly standard couple of days, with the only thing really worth noting is that I traced my jerking mouse problems I was having to my second hard drive (the swap file is on there). Having ripped the drive out and tested cables, power, drive etc, I can now say without a doubt that it isn't the drive. The only thing left it could be is the motherboard, which could have theoretically become damaged when I fitted the new power supply. Although annoying its not the end of the world, although it does make me a little nervous about fitting a German water cooling system I am meant to be getting from AlphaCool as I've never done it before. Maxtor are also meant to be sending me a 300GB one touch drive, but due to a slight cock-up by one of the other reviewers I have to send it back - which means shipping costs for me. While I've got your attention though - care to help me out of a problem? I've recently decided that as I need work soon, some business cards would do me nicely. Unfortunately I don't have an official domain of my own and using a dynamic web address and hotmail email doesn't look professional to me. So I'm looking for a domain name. I've already thought of techjunkie and a few others but they're all taken, and I don't think junkietech has the same ring to it. Ideally I would like to have the word 'junkie' in it to associate the site with my handle, I want to move away from the 'overdrive' name, as that was chosen because I couldn't think of anything in the mean time!
