11/8/2005 @ 21:58 (GMT) My apologies for lack of blogs recently - there is no excuse for it, I've just been lazy. The Alphacool liquid worked fine (I think) although it did leave some weird green marks in the tubing. Unfortunately I've not been able to use the system though as the hard drive died on it soon after it was working again - so its turned off, which sucks. The car's repaired, £50 luckily due to my insurance cover so it wasn't as much as it could have been, and the police are *supposedly* onto whoever did it in the first place. Not much is happening in my life, no-one seems to want to employ me which sucks as the jobs I?ve applied for have been much beneath my skill set, but the car passed its MOT with only minor problems so I wasn't forking out a ton for that. Other geek news involves the OCZ ram I was sent not working in my rig properly so I have to wait for another motherboard to turn up to test it properly. As well as the geek projects I had a great game of poker the other night with a few friends, after explaining the rules a few times we all had a great laugh and it turns out the person who didn't get the game at all was amazingly good at it! So well done Maria! While I'm here - my review of the Alphacool Xtreme pro water cooling set is complete at well, and I've made a video for it! Due to my bandwidth here in the house being as it is - I've hosted it over at Planetamd64.com, so don't be surprised if it starts to download from there when you click it in the review. Check it out even if you're not into water cooling, you might find it interesting - and if not, you still get to look at my sexy legs I couldn't take out of it! You can blame Jen for the legs - she's the one who did the photography, you'll find her listed in the credits as "The Jennyral". The review can be found though this link or by going to the reviews page. ---------- 20/7/2005 @ 1:3 (GMT) My review of the Speeze Modding accessories (various parts) is now complete. You can read it by going through the reviews page or directly through this link. The car is going in to be fixed tomorrow - hopefully that'll be the last of the matter, or heads are going to roll. As well as the car being smashed up - AlphaCool contacted me to say that the liquid I was using in the water cooling rig is damaged and should be stopped right away. So I drained the system (making a mess as I went) and sure enough there is a green film all around the pipes and components. Hopefully the new liquid they are sending me will clean it all up - or I'm going to have to start cutting tubes again, *sigh*. ---------- 17/7/2005 @ 23:11 (GMT) Arg - life sucks c**k. I went with my parents to my grand-parents place for a BBQ, I come back, and my car rear window is put through along with some major scratches to the body work. I wish just once I could catch the people as they're doing it - and get some retribution for this. Honestly - I'm thinking of ditching cars, they cost me so much money and it is never my fault. To top it off they put through the rear window - the most expensive window. Why? If you're going to put through a window - please do a side window next time, they cost a lot less to fix and are so much easier to do. As it is I have to take a trip down the garage tomorrow to get it fixed - and if anywhere around here can do it (its not a well known car) it looking like £300, £300 I just don't have as an out of work person. Insurance will cost more to fix it than to pay for it myself due to UK "young driver" excesses - luckily they'll reduce when I'm 25, and I can get a "protected cover" which will stop my no-claims discount from dropping. Still, its upsetting, I wish I was a cop so much. ---------- 14/7/2005 @ 23:23 (GMT) Apologies to all that read my blogs - I've been swamped recently and a bit lazy writing them. First thing today is that my take on the Crucial X850XT graphics card is complete you can read it by going to the reviews page or through this link. Not much has been happening in my life that I really want to talk about over here - but sufficed to say, it?s been a long hard few days. In my geek life, the Antec TrueControl 2.0 has turned out for review, but I'm a bit disappointed in it as it looks just like any other power supply I've tested. Add to that, that it was damaged when it got here (SATA power lead was snapped) and I'm jealous of another reviewer who got the PowerStream! My testing of the AlphaCool water cooling kit will begin on Sunday, after I tried to test it last week and failed miserably due to lack of instructions, but a quick phone call from AlphaCool and I'm ready to try again. My reviews of the Optronix board and the Speeze case mods should also be done soon when I'm finished editing them - although the Optronix review will take a bit longer due to their poor scores while benchmarking, they're looking at getting me a new BIOS to play with. Now only if ECS would hurry up with their Crossfire motherboard for me... ---------- 7/7/2005 @ 1:43 (GMT) Apologies to anyone who has been trying to access the site recently and hasn?t been able to access it - due to the low upload bandwidth in this house my father has apparently been getting 'ping spikes' while playing Counter Strike. As this is the main game he plays he's been getting seriously annoyed and taking it out on me, blaming me for all of the problems. After three days of getting yelled at I've given up arguing and now whenever he plays the game I have to disconnect all of my network devices (PC's, server) to make sure I can't be the one that gets blamed for the network troubles. Currently I'm working on the Optronix, Crucial and Speeze reviews together so they should all be finished about the same time. The time is being taken up with benchmarking everything at the moment, first I tried downloading loads of demos but they're refusing to allow me to benchmark with them. So I had to install the whole games and now go through the entire process of testing each one. Luckily I've now found a program called Bench'em All which automates most of it for me, although not all of it (Far Cry refuses to work with the tool even though the tool is designed to work with it, and X2 isn't supported). Life at home is still the same as it used to be when I lived here, a little more bearable in some respects, a little less bearable in others - oh well, hopefully a job will come up, as soon as I have done these reviews! ----------
