After much discussion with Shuttle they have agreed to ship me a ST20G5 case which should be here in the next few days. Unfortunately they ran out of DVD ReWriters (DVD-RW) so I'm going to have to source one of them from elsewhere. I'm actually quite excited about this, it means that I will be able to finish off my other reviews (finally!) and get on with this project. Between this blog and the last, Crucial sent me a set of 2GB PC4000 sticks for the project (thanks Crucial!) so I should be all set up (I've got some spare components) when the Shuttle box comes. I just need a hard drive for it now! It was Perky's birthday yesterday, so "Happy birthday" hun, I'll get your present to you soon! Right, sleeps time for me, hopefully more goodies will arrive in the morning! -Edit-. I've also just managed to get the FavIcon working properly again, turns out it wasn't working anywhere apart from here. Thanks to Fatman for having a working site with a working FavIcon I can steal the code from while he sleeps! Muhahaha. ---------- 9/9/2005 @ 20:14 (GMT) As I walked from my room to get a drink this morning a welcome package greeted my eyes. It was the Vapochill Micro that Asetek contacted me about a few days ago. So after waking up a bit and opening up the packaging I had a look at it. Its quite a tall heat sink, and it leans over slightly (this is to help the liquid inside return to the base if it is mounted horizontally). Asetek supplied me with three fans, basic, middle and performance. so will be interesting to see how much difference they actually make. Stay tuned for a review over the next week, when I *hopefully* get a Shuttle case I can use to test it on. Apart from that, not much is going on, I had Chinese tonight which I don't really like, and it's left me feeling quite sick, so you'll excuse me if I cut this blog short tonight! ---------- 5/9/2005 @ 20:27 (GMT)  My review of the Antec TrueControl 2 is finally up, you can read it by going to the reviews page or by going directly here. While I'm on the subject of tragedy, Perky's hamster "trouble" (named by me) died today. She became sick a few days ago and there was nothing anyone could have done for her. Perky was brave enough to have her put down today, and I give her full support for that, I've had to put a pet (read, most loved friend) down and it was and still is heartbreaking, so my thought are with you hun. To Trouble, you had a short life with us, but you were much loved and brought enjoyment to those who knew you - rest in peace little one.---------- 4/9/2005 @ 21:54 (GMT) Well as you can see - there have been some changes to the site again! Firstly I've sorted most of the shoutbox code and made it look neater generally. I tried using Flash but can't read cookies apparently (wtf flash, why not?!) so its now in a scrolling table. The code now sorts out "www." hyperlinks too - not just the "http://" ones. I've also changed the blog code so that you can now select how many blogs per page you would like to read at once. Give it a go for a laugh, most people won't use it, but the code was there so I thought I'd use it. ---------- 4/9/2005 @ 11:29 (GMT) *Yawn* A late night coding doesn't do much for me the next morning. By now you should have spotted what I was coding - the shoutbox! At the moment it's still in the beta stages of development, I haven't quite got it looking the way I want it to. If I use an Iframe it looks messy, a textarea doesn't work for html code, and with a straight table I can't get the scrolling that I need. Time for some Flash I think, although I've not used it properly in a while, and I've not coded in it for ages before that. While I remember, 'thank you Jen!' for helping me with the shoutbox, its always handy to have a 'non-dev' on board when you're coding, professional coders should take note. When something isn't working and you've checked the code a million times and it's right, it's always the 'non-technical' thing that the 'non-dev' finds. This time around it was the shoutbox files, I couldn't work out why they were working some of the time and not others. I was playing around with browser cache and data flushing ideas in my head, but it was Jen that spotted that the files only appear once a minute. Whoops, I forgot to add a 'second' section to the files - which explains why they were overwriting themselves! Easily fixed, although you still won't be able to post a shout more than once a minute for now, as it means changing the blog code too. On the tech update, ATi have not got back to me about the graphics card, so I'm pretty much stuffed on that aspect, but I might be able to get one from Gigabyte. Shuttle are out of the office until at least Monday, so I've got to wait for them. Fingers crossed, they're the most important (and only one left to agree to kit) people in the project.
